Conforming happens so naturally that we can forget how powerful it is. But the thing that makes us human are those times we listen to the whispers of our soul and allow ourselves to be pulled in another direction.
Obviously, content is really important to our business, and it’s really one part of, sort of, the three businesses that comprise Snapchat.
We worked really hard to evolve the camera. And then to the left of the camera screen, the app is kind of three screens. There is a communications business. So that has chat and video calling; and obviously, Snaps, being able to send pictures and videos back and forth.
It would be better for everyone if we deleted everything by default and saved the things that are important to us. Right now most businesses are built on saving everything and then writing a ton of software to organise it and hopefully find the things that are important later.
We’d rather inspire creation because we know a derivative of that is growth.
How do we feel (after IPO)? We were just thinking about how do we answer that question. It’s exciting.
We built our business on creativity. And we’re going to have to go through an education process for the next five years to explain to people how our users and that creativity creates value.
